Garages suffering MOT headache
Garages that carry out MOTs are experiencing real problems with the computerized vehicle check-up system, which was supposed to make their life easier since it was introduced in April 2005.
Garages are not happy at the level of compensation on offer by the (VOSA) the government organization who is responsible for the tests. The garages main headache is the extra cost involved at having to manually key in lost data after repeated system crashes. The Independent garage association is not happy with the current situation and is demanding better from the government.
MOT price to rise
The government has just announced that the fee for MOTs is to rise to £50.35 as of November 2006. This increase of 14% the government claims is due to the rising cost of carrying out the test. However they have stressed once again to the motering public that this is only and maximum fee and many garages will charge less.
